How to save on your degree

Eligibility requirements and other details

  • You are a new or readmit student registering for the fall 2020 term in a Strayer University bachelor’s degree program. You are not enrolling in a certificate, associates, masters, or DevMountain program.
  • You meet Strayer University admission requirements.
  • You are transferring in at least 30 qualifying quarter credits into your Strayer University bachelor’s degree. (Example of qualifying would be from a regionally accredited institution or ACE) 
  • Unofficial transcripts can be used to determine eligibility, but official transcripts are required to award the tuition cap benefits. 
  • Neither you, an immediate family member of yours, nor a household member of yours currently employed by the University, the University’s parent company, or any other subsidiary of the parent company (Strategic Education, Inc.).
  • Once the tuition cap of $10,000 is reached, you no longer pay tuition, technology fees, or for the diploma conferral fee. Your course tuition and technology fees paid contribute to reaching the $10,000 tuition cap.
  • You are required to pay for books and course materials with a separate method of payment for the duration of your program. These costs do not count towards the tuition cap and are not covered once you reach the tuition cap of $10,000.
  • You will maintain good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or greater) and good financial standing.  If you do not, you may no longer earn towards the tuition cap or receive the tuition and fee benefits.
  • If you fail to maintain good academic standing, in the quarter following the quarter when you fail to maintain good academic standing, the discount will be cancelled until such time that you return to good academic standing.
  • If you drop or fail a course, that tuition charge or any pro-rata withdrawal fees will not accrue towards the $10,000 tuition cap. Only courses successfully completed count towards the $10,000 tuition cap.
  • If you drop or fail a course after hitting the tuition cap, you will be responsible to pay the pro-rata withdrawal fees. The program will cover the course if you successfully re-take it. 
  • Only courses successfully completed will be covered by the tuition cap benefits and not have a tuition or technology fee associated after reaching the $10,000 cap.
  • If you choose to change to an ineligible program, discontinue, or withdraw (either actively or administratively) from Strayer, you will become ineligible for capped tuition. Under no circumstance will recipients be eligible for a cash payment or any other compensation for the value of unused tuition cap benefits.
  • If you take two or more consecutive quarters off, you will be responsible to pay the pro-rata withdrawal fees. If you take two or more consecutive quarters off, you will permanently forfeit the tuition cap and any benefits associated.
  • You will be held to academic consequences of withdrawing from or failing any course.
  • This tuition cap benefit can be combined with the laptop offer, but may not be combined with any other scholarships, tuition discounts, or Graduation Fund. 
  • You are not enrolled in a Degrees@Work program, or VerizonOnsite.
  • In all cases, the tuition cap benefit program is at Strayer University’s discretion.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You are a new or readmit student registering for the winter 2021 term in a Strayer University bachelor’s degree program. You are not enrolling in a certificate, associate, master’s, or Devmountain program.
  • You meet Strayer University admission requirements.
  • You are transferring in at least 30 quarter credits into your Strayer University bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • If you fail to maintain good academic standing, in the quarter following the quarter when you fail to maintain good academic standing, the discount will be cancelled until such time that return to good academic standing.

  • If you take two or more consecutive quarters off, you will forfeit the tuition cap and any benefits associated.
  • You will be held to academic consequences of withdrawing from or failing any course.
  • This tuition cap benefit may not be combined with other scholarships, tuition discounts, or Graduation Fund.
  • You are not enrolled in a Degrees@Work program or VerizonOnsite.
  • In all cases, the tuition cap benefit program is at Strayer University’s discretion.

Complete your bachelor’s degree for $20,000 at Strayer University when you transfer in 30 or more quarter credits. Simply register for an eligible Strayer bachelor’s program, maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher and meet eligibility requirements. As long as you continue to successfully complete your courses and don’t take more than two consecutive quarters off at a time, once you reach $20,000 in tuition, we’ll cover all remaining tuition and fees.

  • Eligible students are enrolled automatically, with no GPA requirement
  • You’ll earn one tuition-free class for every three you complete successfully
  • Your earned courses will be applied at the end of your program
  • Earned courses won’t expire as long as you stay enrolled (If you don’t take classes for two or more consecutive quarters, you will lose your accumulated credits. You can restart the program with zero credits on readmission.)

Eligibility requirements and other details

  • Books, supplies, and other fees apply.
  • Developmental courses (08X/090/091), transfer credits, courses completed prior to readmission, and courses passed by placement exam are excluded from this program and do not count toward earning tuition awards. Fund must be redeemed for the final courses leading to a bachelor’s degree (if you’re enrolled in a bachelor’s-level program) or master’s degree (if you’re enrolled in a master’s-level program). Successful completion means earning the grade required by the curriculum as outlined in the Strayer University Catalog.
  • New or returning students enrolling in undergraduate or graduate programs (new or returning graduate students enrolling on or after summer 2020 quarter) are eligible for savings. Some groups of students may not be eligible including, but not limited to: students enrolled in a non-degree program, certificate program, associate’s program, or JWMI program, any full-time or part-time Strayer University employee (and employees of any of its affiliates or Strategic Education, Inc.), adjunct faculty, and their dependents, or students attending one of the Degrees@Work campuses.
  • Unless specified in another offer’s eligibility rules you cannot combine Graduation Fund with additional offers. Some of the offers that Graduation Fund cannot be combined with include, but are not limited to: the Supplemental Assistance scholarship, the Experienced Student Completion scholarship, the Law Enforcement Tuition Assistance Program, or the Complete@Strayer Community College program.
  • Tuition credit is earned only after successfully completing courses and will be lost if you do not take courses for two consecutive quarters.
  • Students already receiving scholarship aid from Strayer University may not be eligible.
  • Students receiving tuition assistance from their employers through agreements with Strayer University may not be eligible.

Do you know a Strayer student, graduate, or faculty member? Ask them about our Referral Scholarship. If you register for an eligible Strayer program, meet all eligibility requirements and maintain good academic standing, a referral can save you $500 on tuition.

Referral Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1.        You must have been referred to Strayer by a current full-time faculty or staff member of Strategic Education, Inc., or one of its subsidiary entities including but not limited to, Strayer University and Capella University.

2.        You must be a new student registering for the Winter 2021 term in a Strayer University Master’s degree program or JWMI MBA program. You are not enrolling in a certificate, associates, bachelors, or DevMountain program. You also are not enrolled in a Degrees@Work program or Verizon Onsite.

3.        You meet Strayer University admission requirements by program.

4.        Person being referred cannot be currently employed by Strategic Education, Inc. or any subsidiary thereof, including but not limited to Strayer University or Capella University.

5.        Once the tuition cap of $5,000 is reached, you will no longer pay tuition, technology fees, or the diploma conferral fee. Your course tuition and technology fees paid prior to reaching the tuition cap will contribute to reaching the $5,000 tuition cap.

6.        You are required to pay for books, course materials, and non-obligatory fees with a separate method of payment for the duration of your program. These costs do not count towards the tuition cap and are not covered once you reach the tuition cap of $5,000.

7.        You will maintain good academic standing (GPA 2.5 or greater) and good financial standing.  If you do not, you will no longer earn towards the tuition cap or receive the benefits under the program. If you fail to maintain good academic standing, in the quarter following the quarter when you fail to maintain good academic standing, the discount will be cancelled until such time that return to good academic standing.

8.        If you drop or fail a course prior to reaching the tuition cap, that tuition charge or any withdrawal fees will not accrue towards the $5,000 tuition cap. Only courses successfully completed count towards the $5,000 tuition cap.

9.        Similarly, if you drop or fail a course after reaching the tuition cap, you will be responsible for any withdrawal fees or pro-rated tuition charges. Only courses successfully completed will be covered by the program benefits. The program will include the cost of a re-take if it is successfully completed. 

10.     If you choose to change to an ineligible program, discontinue, or withdraw (either actively or administratively) from Strayer, you will become ineligible for this program.

11.     There is no cash value. Under no circumstance will recipients be eligible for a cash payment or any other compensation for the value of unused tuition cap benefits.

12.     If you take two or more consecutive quarters off, you will forfeit any and all benefits under the program.  You will not be permitted back into the program if you are readmitted into the University.  You will lose any credit accrued toward your $5,000 cap.  You will have to pay for any and all remaining classes.

13.     You will be held to academic consequences of withdrawing from or failing any course.

14.     This tuition cap benefit may not be combined with other scholarships, tuition discounts, Graduation Fund, or SEI tuition assistance.

15.     In all cases, the tuition cap benefit program is at Strayer University’s discretion.

If you’re a Strayer University bachelor’s graduate ready to pursue a master’s degree, our Alumni Scholarship* can save you $4,000. All you need to do is register for an eligible Strayer graduate program, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or greater and meet eligibility requirements. Combine this scholarship with our Graduation Fund to save even more.

Eligibility requirements:

  • You must be a new student registering to start any Strayer University master’s degree program in the fall 2020 term.
  • You must be a graduate of a Strayer University or Capella University bachelor’s program.
  • You, any immediate family member of yours, or household member of you may not be currently employed by Strayer University, Strayer’s parent company, or any other subsidiary of that parent company.
  • You must complete a course in your first term enrolled in the master’s degree program.
  • You must meet all Strayer University admissions requirements by program.
  • This scholarship may be combined with Graduation Fund, but cannot be combined with any other Strayer scholarships/tuition discounts.
  • The scholarship will be applied to your account in four equal disbursements of $1,000 during your second, third, fourth and fifth quarters after starting coursework in the program. If you do not complete a course during a term where the scholarship is disbursed, you forfeit the disbursement for that term.
  • No refund will be issued on unused scholarship amounts.
  • You must maintain good academic standing (defined as a GPA 3.0 or greater). Beginning with any quarter following the quarter you fail to maintain good academic standing, the scholarship’s disbursements will be forfeited until you return to good academic standing.
  • You must be in good financial standing with the University (defined as a $0 past due balance).
  • The scholarship applies to course tuition only. All other books and fees must be paid with a separate method of payment.
  • This scholarship does not include any Strayer University graduate programs offered through Degrees@Work, or Verizon Onsite.
  • In all cases, the scholarship if offered at Strayer’s discretion.

Law Enforcement Professionals

Police officers, sheriffs, state troopers, rangers, or corrections officers who have completed a basic law enforcement training program may qualify for a special tuition rate of $750 per undergraduate course.

Active Duty Service Members and Veterans

Strayer participates in programs such as GoArmyEd, Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP), and Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC). We’re approved for veterans’ educational benefits and participate in the Yellow Ribbon program.

Corporate Partnership Members

More than 400 companies offer educational benefits to their employees through Strayer. If your employer is a Corporate Alliance Partner, you may qualify for programs that help you advance in your company and your career.

National Service Participants
